Description

As close as you can get to the real thing……..

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups Fry Krisp
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 pound cod fish
  • Peanut oil for frying
  • Melted butter for dipping
  • Lemon wedges

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl whisk together fry krisp, tomato puree, white pepper, garlic powder, salt, and egg until well blended.
  2. Cut cod into about 2 by 2 inch pieces. Be sure that if you use frozen fish that it is completely thawed.
  3. Heat peanut oil in fryer to 350* (If you do not have a fryer you can heat oil in a large saucepan)
  4. Dip pieces of fish in the prepared batter shaking off any excess. Gently place in fryer and cooking for about 4 minutes or until fish is cooked through. Do not over cook or you will lose that “lobster” color. Remove pieces of fish to a paper towel to drain.
  5. Serve immediately with melted butter and lemon wedges.
