Once again, I am leaning on a technique rather than a recipe, although I did use my Best Ever White Cake recipe…..Click here for recipe Best Ever White Cake I did not use the frosting recipe, I made a traditional buttercream for this cake.

I spend an enormous amount of time on Pinterest! Everything about it gives me ideas, not only for my blog, but for everyday things…. a new haircut, paint color for my home, ideas for a new tattoo……yes I have three , and have ideas for a few more.

In my previous life as a “Fake n’ Baker”……I used to work in the bakery of a grocery store, and in an effort to make the most product, many things were remade and we (I) decorated them. I also dabbled in cake decorating. I get my decorating gene from my Mom… she was soooo artistic.

So, when I saw the Chocolate Flower Cake from The Cake Blog, I knew I had to try it. The Cake Blog is a community of bakers and cake lovers who have a wide variety of beautiful cakes with recipes, and tutorials. If you are looking for something special, or just a great cake for everyday, visit The Cake Blog.

Chocolate Flower Cake was on my Pinterest feed and it was beautiful……I had to investigate. I was sure it was above my skill set. I hold my own in cake decorating, but this was stunning. Much to my surprise, it was really easy. Best of all it didn’t require any fancy equipment and everything can be purchased at the grocery store.

Gathering up all the ingredients, which consisted of some melting chocolate, some parchment paper, and the other items listed on the Chocolate Flower Cake blog post, I set out to give this a whirl.

Turns out if you follow the directions you can have the most beautiful and stunning cake for any special occasion.

A company called Sweetworks Celebration  has an array of Sixlets, if you are of a certain age, you will remember the candy in the cello tube, that will make any sweet treat look like a million bucks. They come in a variety of colors and sizes. Local grocery stores or Wal Mart carries them in the baking aisle. They are so pretty and they won’t break your teeth like some cake decorations. Plus, they are chocolate …….enough said!
Following The Cake Blogs instructions, and using my white cake recipe, I made a pretty cake without a tons of work or the need for a degree in cake decorating.
