Baked French Vanilla Glazed Donuts

When I was a kid, the biggest treat In the world was when Mom bought donuts for breakfast, and if she bought chocolate milk…..the kind already mixed ……heaven! Now, not any old donut would do…….oh no not for us! It had to be donetts……..those little tiny ones. Powered sugar or chocolate frosted……..hmmm.

When I was making these Baked French Vanilla Glazed Donuts, I was thinking about how many stories I have with donuts in them.

The neighbor girl and I got in big trouble one summer for getting home after dark……where were we?……..frosting donuts. There was a little corner gas station-store close to where we lived, and they made their own donuts. We hung around at this place, and if I remember correctly, one of our babysitters worked there. Of course, her being a teenager, and us wanting to be teenagers we would do anything to hang with the big kids. Well, when she asked if we’d wanted to help frost donuts……….duh!!!! Of course we did…………and of course we lost track of time. To our horror it was dark out. Now, the rule was, you had your bike and your ass home before dark. Well our asses nor our bikes were home, and when we got home……..lets just say there was a welcoming party……..so, that was the end of our frosting donuts.

Right before we got married, Tim had to have an outpatient surgery, before they let him go home he had to eat something…….they brought him juice and a chocolate frosted donut. We both had much better eating habits before we got married……….Tim was just shy of being a vegetarian. Imagine my surprise when I saw him not only eating a chocolate frosted donut, but the look on his face was of sheer bliss……..now, I know he was medicated, but I think at that exact moment he would have rather married the donut……..I saw a new side to my soon to be husband…..LOL

Sweet Yogurt Fruit Cup

Ok……better late than never…….I have begun to eat with a little more mindfulness. Don’t worry, I will still make a whole bunch of tasty meals, and desserts…….you know the mindless ones, but today the word of the day is FRUIT.

I always think fruit looks really good in the grocery store, so I buy it. I bring it home with every intent of eating it instead of cookies, or ice cream…….well, we know what normally wins…….wha, wha, whaaa……

So, this time I decided if I made a recipe out of it, it would go into me……..it worked. I wanted it to be a fancy, but healthy dessert………instead it was my breakfast. I guess it can be dual duty……..an anytime thing.

It really did turn out pretty. I am all about my food having a picturesque quality……..well, because we take pictures of it, but also because, people eat with their eyes. You can have the tastiest thing in the world and if it looks……for lack of a better world yucky! In my experience, no one will even try it if it doesn’t look good. Bacon Cheeseburger Cobb Salad

Bacon Cheeseburger Cobb Salad

Ahhhh……the Bacon Cheeseburger, what can one say about a juicy burger, covered in cheddar cheese, and topped with crispy bacon……….it’s the best burger you can have!!!! So, why not have it in a salad??? A Cobb salad…….ohhh good idea!

So, basically this is a bacon cheeseburger on a plate……you know “fork”…..time.

This really came out of Tim and I’s desire for a burger, and guess what……. no buns. So, you either, run to the store……….or, you make do with what you do have. Number two wins………….Ok, I had everything but the bun. I did have a ciabatta roll, so I cut it up for the croutons…..aka bread of the dish. The rest was pretty easy and straight forward.

Fry up the bacon, and drain it on paper toweling. Here a little tip about frying bacon…….cut it up first, then fry it……it makes it so much easier…….. if the recipe says crumble the bacon….cut then fry! I know , I know, but thats what I’m here for……
